Main Ingredients: Ganciclovir. This product contains 75μg of the bacteriostatic agent benzalkonium bromide per milliliter.
Description: This product is a colorless, clear liquid.
Pharmacological Action: Antiviral drug. The inhibitory effect of ganciclovir on herpesviruses is due to its phosphorylation by virus-encoded thymidine kinase into ganciclovir monophosphate, which is then converted by cellular enzymes into ganciclovir diphosphate and triphosphate. Ganciclovir triphosphate is a potent inhibitor of herpesvirus DNA polymerase; it binds to the viral DNA polymerase and incorporates into the viral DNA, thereby terminating viral DNA synthesis.
Indications: Used for the treatment of ocular herpesvirus infections in cats.
Dosage and Administration: Ophthalmic: 1 drop at a time, 4 times a day for cats. The duration of treatment should be determined based on the condition, not exceeding 14 days, or as directed by a veterinarian.
Adverse Reactions: Ophthalmic use may cause mild symptoms such as eyelid edema, conjunctival hyperemia, and pain. Treatment can be continued if tolerated after reducing the frequency of administration.
Precautions:
Do not use in cats under 2 months of age and/or weighing less than 0.6kg.
Do not use in cats hypersensitive to ganciclovir.
The safety of this product has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating cats.
When administering this product, wear rubber gloves to avoid contact with eyes and skin.
