Product Information
Main Ingredients: Tiamulin Fumarate Premix
Pharmacological Action:
Pharmacodynamics: Tiamulin belongs to pleuromutilin antibiotics and has a bactericidal effect on sensitive bacteria at high concentrations. Through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis.
Tiamulin has good antibacterial activity against Mycoplasma and Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. It also has good antibacterial activity against most Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus (excluding Group D streptococci). It has a certain effect on Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and weak antibacterial activity against most Gram-negative bacteria.
When this product is combined with Chlortetracycline at a ratio of 1:4, it can treat bacterial enteritis, bacterial pneumonia, and swine dysentery caused by Brachyspira in pigs. It shows significant efficacy against pneumonia caused by mixed infections of Mycoplasma, Bordetella bronchiseptica, and Pasteurella multocida.
Pharmacokinetics: Oral administration in pigs is well absorbed. The bioavailability after a single dose is about 85%, reaching peak plasma concentration in 2-4 hours. The drug is widely distributed in the body, with the highest concentration in lung tissue. Tiamulin is extensively metabolized in the body, producing over 20 metabolites, some of which have antibacterial activity. Tiamulin metabolites are mainly excreted in feces via bile, and about 30% are excreted in urine.
Drug Interactions: (1) Concurrent use with polyether ionophore antibiotics such as Monensin, Salinomycin, and Methylsalinomycin can affect the metabolism of the aforementioned polyether antibiotics, leading to growth retardation, ataxia, paralysis, and even death.
(2) Concurrent use with other antibiotics that bind to the bacterial ribosome 50S subunit (such as macrolide antibiotics and Lincomycin) may lead to reduced efficacy due to competition for the same binding site.
Functions and Indications: Pleuromutilin antibiotic. Mainly used for the prevention and treatment of Mycoplasma pneumonia and Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia in pigs, and also for swine dysentery caused by Brachyspira.
Dosage and Administration: Calculated as this product. Mixed feeding: For every 1000kg of feed, add 400~1000g for pigs, and use continuously for 5~10 days.
Adverse Reactions: When used at recommended doses, pigs may occasionally develop skin erythema. Overdose can cause transient salivation, vomiting, and central nervous system depression in pigs.
Precautions: (1) Do not use concurrently with polyether ionophore antibiotics such as Monensin, Salinomycin, and Methylsalinomycin.
(2) Users should avoid contact of the drug with eyes and skin.
Withdrawal Period: Pigs: 7 days.
