Description: This product is a white or off-white powder.

Pharmacological Action: 

Pharmacodynamics: Colistin belongs to polypeptide antibiotics and is a cationic surfactant. It interacts with phospholipids in the bacterial cell membrane, penetrates into the membrane, disrupts its structure, and thereby changes membrane permeability, leading to bacterial death and exerting a bactericidal effect.

This product has strong antibacterial activity against aerobic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae, Pasteurella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella,

Shigella, and other Gram-negative bacteria. Gram-positive bacteria are generally insensitive. There is complete cross-resistance with polymyxin B, but no cross-resistance with other antibacterial drugs.

Pharmacokinetics Oral administration results in almost no absorption, but non-gastrointestinal administration is rapidly absorbed. The drug distributes rapidly into the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and skeletal muscle, but does not easily enter the cerebrospinal fluid, pleural cavity, joint cavities, or infected foci. It is mainly excreted by the kidneys.

Drug Interactions: (1) Concomitant use with muscle relaxants and aminoglycosides (neuromuscular blocking agents) may cause muscle weakness and respiratory arrest.

(2) Chelating agents (EDTA) and cationic detergents have a synergistic effect with this product against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and are often used in combination for the treatment of local infections.

Functions and Indications: Polypeptide antibiotic. Mainly used for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage and Administration: Calculated as this product. In drinking water: per 1L water, Pigs 2~10g, Chickens 1~3g; In feed: per 1kg feed, Pigs 2~4g.

Adverse Reactions: No adverse reactions have been observed when used according to the prescribed dosage and administration.

Precautions: (1) Do not use in laying hens whose eggs are for human consumption during the laying period.

(2) Continuous use should not exceed one week.

Withdrawal Period: Pigs, Chickens: 7 days.
