Pyrantel Pamoate Tablets

Pyrantel Pamoate Tablets

Product Information

Ingredients:

Pyrantel Pamoate

Appearance:

Light yellow tablets.

Pharmacological effects:

Pyrantel is a broad-spectrum anti-nematode drug. Its mechanism of action is to produce a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent on sensitive worms, paralyzing the worms. It has nicotinic properties, acts similarly to acetylcholine, and also inhibits cholinesterase. It is 95% effective against common canine hookworms (Ancylostoma canis, Ancylostoma canis) and roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxocara lionsis). It is also effective against common cat hookworms (Ancylostoma tuberis) and roundworms (Toxocara felis).

After dogs and cats take this product orally, it is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaches a high concentration in the intestine, and can reach the end of the large intestine to exert anthelmintic activity. Absorbed drugs are quickly metabolized in the liver, and most of them are excreted in the urine as metabolites, while the rest and unabsorbed drugs are excreted in the feces.

Drug Interactions:

(1) Due to the similar mechanism of action (toxicity), coadministration of pyrantel with methylpyridine or levamisole may increase the toxicity.

(2) If used simultaneously with organophosphorus or diethylcarbamazine, adverse reactions will be enhanced

(3) It has an antagonistic effect with piperazine and cannot be used at the same time.
