Ivermectin Premix

Ivermectin Premix

Product Information

Main Ingredients: Ivermectin

Description: This product is a yellowish-white to light brown powder.

Pharmacological Action: Ivermectin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic produced by the fermentation of the soil microorganism Streptomyces avermitilis. It is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic drug effective against internal and external parasites, particularly nematodes (roundworms) and arthropods, but ineffective against cestodes, trematodes, and protozoa. The mechanism of action may involve increasing the release of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the parasite, thereby blocking nerve signal transmission, causing muscle cells to lose contraction ability, and leading to parasite death. The peripheral neurotransmitter in mammals is acetylcholine, which is not affected by ivermectin, and ivermectin does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Therefore, ivermectin premix has high safety for livestock.

The half-life of ivermectin in pigs is up to 4 days. The time to reach peak plasma concentration is 0.5 days after oral administration and 2 days after subcutaneous injection. However, the bioavailability after subcutaneous injection is much higher than oral administration; typically, the bioavailability after oral administration is only 41% of that after injection. After absorption, ivermectin is widely distributed in body tissues, with the highest concentration in the liver and adipose tissue. Ivermectin is usually oxidized into metabolites in the liver. Within 5 to 6 days, over 90% of ivermectin is excreted in feces, and only 0.5% to 2% is excreted in urine.
